After a diligent search process led by our board of directors and shepherded by the SAH executive search agency — in consultation with staff, campaign members, and leaders — I am excited to share with you that this month, our board has announced that DeAnna Hoskins will take the helm of JustLeadershipUSA (JLUSA) as president starting on July 15, 2018. DeAnna’s selection is particularly meaningful because she is a 2016 Leading with Conviction alumna.
DeAnna is a powerhouse and a force for change. We are thrilled to have her on board!
DeAnna is a longtime advocate and visionary leader for eliminating our nation’s reliance on incarceration, reinvesting resources into communities, supporting the successful reentry of people returning home from incarceration, and advancing the rights and leadership of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people. She has worked at the local, state, and national level. Learn more about her work here.
Please join us in welcoming DeAnna! – We encourage you to send a note of congratulations and support on social media. We are grateful for your incredible support, and look forward to toward #halfby2030 under DeAnna’s leadership.
With appreciation,
Brent J. Cohen
Interim CEO & Vice President
JustLeadershipUSA
Thank you so much for supporting our mission here at JLUSA! Your donation helps to support our network of leaders working to dismantle oppressive systems and uplift people and families impacted by mass incarceration across the country.
All charitable donations made to JLUSA are fully tax deductible, as allowable by the IRS.

The nation’s prisons and jails have been in crisis long before COVID-19. This is because most correctional facilities do not have plans in place to deal with any kind of emergency, be it a pandemic, a flood or a cyber attack.
This must change.
Directly impacted people are the best voices to help change our country’s discriminatory policies. We have policy solutions to appropriately manage the range of disasters that impact correctional facilities nationwide, uplift the dignity and humanity of incarcerated people, and decarcerate the United States.
Join us, and tell your elected officials to adopt these solutions, now.
